The Latency
The Latency was a Canadian pop rock band from Maple Ridge. The band was formed in 2006 from the remains of three previous bands. They signed to Maple Music Recordings and released their first album, ''The Latency'', on September 8, 2009. They were scheduled to release a second album in 2011, but the band broke up before the recording process was finished. On September 1, 2010, it was announced through a Ustream chat that drummer Jonny Wiebe had left the band. No permanent replacement was ever chosen. It was announced on December 4, 2011, that they had decided to disband. ==Early years== The Latency originally consisted of Brandon Lehti (vocals), Ryan Stead (guitar) and Mathew Gendron (bass guitar). Stead and Gendron approached Lehti about starting The Latency after their previous band disbanded. They were attracted to the singer's impressive vocal skills while playing a local show together in 2006. They continued in this form, with Lehti on drums, for a couple of months until Stead met Tommy Mac, bass guitarist of multi-platinum recording group Hedley. Mac went on to produce the band's full length album as well as manage the group. It was decided that Lehti would be more useful as a frontman playing guitar. The band recruited Jonny Wiebe on drums in 2007 in preparation for their first studio EP, ''CHOMP!!''.
